Enable FR1+FR2 NR-DC on X65 modems with MPSS.DE.1.0 baseband firmware or newer:
This guide assumes you are already familiar with QPST and how to gain access to the diag port on your device. See this guide for enabling diag on various commercial UEs: Link
Confirmed working with the following devices:
- Samsung Galaxy S22 Ultra (SM-S908U1, SM-S908U, all US carrier variants)
- Samsung Galaxy S22 Ultra (SC-52C, JP variant)
Devices with NR-DC enabled out of the box by the OEM:
- Samsung Galaxy S22 Ultra (SM-S908U, SM-S908U1, SC-52C): FR1+FR2 NR-DC enabled in HW & SW for ATT/VZW/DCM CSC, disabled in SW by cap_prune and nrdc_mode for TMB CSC
- iPhone 14 Series (US): FR1+FR2 NR-DC enabled in HW but unconfirmed in SW
Note: Enabling NR-DC depends on the presence of FR2 SA NR-CA combos in the 0xB826 packet, see Link
How to enable NR-DC
Step 1: Launch EFS explorer
Launch QPST with your device in diag mode. Then, open the EFS explorer.
Step 2: Upload the NV item files for NR-DC
Navigate to /nv/item_files/modem/mmode/
Right click and “Copy item file from PC”, do not drag or drop.
List of NV item files:
/nv/item_files/modem/mmode/nrdc_mode set to 0x01
/nv/item_files/modem/mmode/nr5g_nrdc_band_pref set to match your existing nr_band_pref
If you don’t have an existing nr_band_pref file to copy from, an example nr5g_nrdc_band_pref with all current 3GPP NR bands (bit mask) enabled is provided in the download below.
For dual SIM devices, also copy over the files suffixed by _Subscription01
